Roots that plunge in the late medieval Rome Cosmati are the characteristic ornaments of Roman marble workers of the XII and XIII centuries, which for hundreds of years embellished the most important churches and noble palaces in Europe, using polychrome marble inlays of geometric and imaginative shapes.
